Day Thirty-Eight

It's said that a picture is worth a thousand words, so to spare you a boring book to read, today's post will be a few pictures of what's been goin' down recently in B-town.

This is only a portion of market, which is created every Tuesday and Friday. Chels and I go pretty much every market day, either to help shop for groceries for the internet, take care of miscellaneous needs, or simply to give a kid some always loved one-on-one time with a trip to town.

Morning bath time! Rahael snickers in this cold-hearted moment as she refuses to hold the hand of her sister, Barbara.

The lovely ladies we've been working with for the past month (minus a few who have left already).

Zenabu kindly sharing a piece of her orange.

Chelsea and I during the almost daily rain pours that cool off the weather so nicely.

Speaking of rain storms, yesterday a BIG storm blew in during school time. It was quite exciting as all of the school kids piled into the tiny room to take lunch!

Two Saturdays ago we had a Girl's Day. It was so fun to give all the girls foot baths and foot massages and paint their toe nails! What beautiful feet they all had afterward!

I can't even estimate how many many kisses we are blessed with each day. This here is a snapshot of a Kweku kiss.

Kofi playing in the dirt. Life is sweet when the world is your sandbox!

Almost every day Chelsea and I go a several mile baby-on-your-back-walk in the evening. Not only is it nice exercise, but it is also a wonderful time for us to process our thoughts on the day amidst the peace of Bawjiase landscape--we had no idea how beautiful it is here until we started exploring the farm roads behind the orphanage.

  2. Chelsea, I can't believe you are wandering off and "exploring the farm roads behind the orphanage." Don't you realize how dangerous that is? Who knows what could be lurking in the bushes! And with a child no less.... I know Ghana's a nice place, but this is Africa not Adamsville. And frankly, you probably shouldn't wander off in Adamsville either. I hope your next update brings news of safer tidings.

  3. These are the pictures that make your experience real to me. seeing you in the different settings and seeing the children's faces are so awesome. what beautiful eyelashes Kweku has! and yes, can't you at least carry a stick for protection? just as a gesture? of course I know the Lord is your protector and no harm will befall you or megan. it just looks very lonely down that long road.......i'm glad you identified that Zenabu was feeding you an orange because it looked like some kind of stringy thing..thought it might be a termite or worm or something....did you get to try the termites yet?......market looks like a lot of fun and a very busy place. i bet it's different each time you go...did you get to use the foaming lotion when you gave the girls pedicures? i hope so....for the past few weeks it seems like we're having thunderstorms almost every day as well, and it's been really hot, and muggy...no tornados that i can think of lately though...the midwest and northern states have been having a terrible time with flooding...it actually washed away a campsite in the middle of the night and 20+ people were killed....i think many more are still missing...it was very sad. ..i'll try an call you this weekend. i'll text you beforehand.....share my love with the kiddies! love mom

  5. I just love how much fun you guys are having, even as exhausting as it might be. Megan, you better come back in full fledged "dance an African dance" mode. I love dancing, i'm glad you dance with the children.

    dance again,
    Susana
